BC Energy Step Code

Project Overview

Six-storey mixed-use (residential over commercial) over two levels of underground parking. The energy model was developed for Building Permit compliance with BCBC Part 10 (Rev 5), BC Energy Step Code Level 3 (residential) and Level 2 (commercial), using DesignBuilder with EnergyPlus and NECB 2015 Part 8 methods.

The study quantified TEUI/TEDI and evaluated envelope U-values, glazing SHGC, window-to-wall ratio, and electrified HVAC/DHW systems (PTHPs in suites; split ASHPs for CRUs/office; ERVs/HRVs). Results informed code-aligned documentation and system sizing.
